Family Instruction Guide.doc Rev 1/21/2009

On Monday August 24, 2009, Florida 4-H Online started accepting enrollments for 2009-2010.

How to Login to Florida 4-H Online

Some counties in Florida handle 4-H enrollment at the county office or through the club leader, and collect paper enrollment and 4-H Participation forms. If your county allows Families to manage their own enrollment data, you will need to know what family email address to use, and a 4-H Online password.

Florida.4honline.com = https://florida.4honline.com

Family is new to Florida 4-H A Family Member was in Florida 4-H last year
Know Family Email addresss used &
4-H Online password
Don't know Family 4-H Online password

  If Temporary Password Fails

Only if your Family is new to Florida 4-H:

1. Go to http://florida.4honline.com for the login screen.
2. Pick "I need to setup a profile"

3. Don't mark "I am in a Military Family (Club)" unless you wish to participate in 4-H on the base.
4. Pick the county where you want to participate in 4-H,
5. Enter your family email address & confirm it,
6. Type in the family last name,
7. Type in a password (just for 4-H Online), and
8. Type it again in the Confirm Password box.
9. Then click on Create Login.

If someone in your Family was enrolled in Florida 4-H during 2008-2009 (as a member or a leader),
a family profile has already been set up, using the family email address that was provided to 4-H last year.

A. If your county allows Families to login to their own data, and you
Know your password
,

Go to https://florida.4honline.com
1. enter your family email address,
2. enter your 4-H Online password (must exactly match capital letters and lowercase letters--case-sensitive)
3. click on "Login" ( "I have a profile" and Role "Family" are already selected).

Click to go to an example Family Member List for the Potter Family

B. If your county allows Families to login to their own data, but you
Don't Know your password
, get a temporary password emailed to you.

  1. Go to https://florida.4honline.com
  2. enter your family email address,
  3. click on "I forgot my password":
  4. Check your email for a message with your temporary password (may take 30 min.) then return to https://florida.4honline.com
  5. enter your family email address,
  6. enter your temporary 4-H Online password (must exactly match capital letters and lowercase letters--case-sensitive)
  7. click on "Login" ( "I have a profile" and Role "Family" are already selected).
Your family profile will open and you will be prompted to enter a new password of your own choosing. It must be a minimum of 6 characters long, and contain capitals and lowercase letters, numbers, or these special characters !@#$%^&*()
  8. enter your temporary 4-H Online password (must exactly match capital lettersr little letters--case-sensitive)
  9. enter your new password
  10. enter your new password again to Confirm it. After "Password was Sucessfully Reset" message appears,
  11. click on Continue to go into your Family Member List.

C. If you don't receive a temporary password within 20 min, it may be that your email messages are being delayed

Be patient. ex.  One person had tried “I forgot my password” 5 times over a period of 20 mins and none came through, then all  5 messages did at once.

If you are currently receiving other email messages, the email address entered in 4-H Online for your family may be a different one, or incorrect..

Do not setup another family profile using a different email address.

The county extension 4-H office, or your club leader can check the email address used for you and change it for you, if you can't receive messages sent to that email address anymore, or just prefer to use a different email account..

D. If you received a temporary password, but can't sucessfully login with it:

  1. Only the last “temporary password” will actually work.
  2. Copy the temporary password from the email message (highlight it carefully, click Ctrl+C), then Paste it into the login screen (Ctrl+V). The password is case-sensitive, and it is hard to tell if it is a lowercase L or the number 1.
    - Make sure your "Caps Lock" is off.
    - Don't include a space at the beginning or extra characters when you copy
  3. Try “I forgot my password” again. It will usually send a different temporary password that will work.
(a bug-programmers were notified about 9/9/09: An error message "Password must contain at least one digit or non-alpha character" was displayed when the family used the temporary password that was emailed).

If still having problems, email a Print Screen of the failed login screen to your county 4-H office

To show what was typed for the email address and the error message displayed:

  1. login again, with temporary password received, ("I have a profile" and Family selected)
  2. click on Print Screen button (Print Screen puts a copy in the Windows clipboard).
  3. Open a new email message, address it to your county 4-H office, for the Subject type in your Family name Login problem, then paste the PrintScreen contents (Ctrl+V to Paste) into the message, add any additional comments, and Send.

If someone else created the original 4-H Online family entry, the problem is usually

- that the family email account has changed
- or a different email address was provided and used to create the family login
- or no email address was entered
- or an incorrect email address was entered (a typographical error)

If the family can't get a message from the email account listed for them in 4-H Online, they can't use "I forgot my password" to receive a new temporary password. Contact the county 4-H office or your club leader.

Family Login screen for 4-H Online You will be prompted to type in the temporary password, then enter twice a password of your own choosing: a minimum of 6 characters long, use capitals and lowercase letters, numbers, or !@#$%^&*(). Then click the Update Password button.

Military Family "bug" in the program as of 10/6/09: Family login doesn't see Military Question on Family Profile when first adding themselves or later if they pick "Edit Family".

Previously, when first creating a family profile, the question "Are you in a Military Family" showed for Family login instead of "Is a family member in a Military Club that meets on base"? When you pick a Military Installation, it assigns the family to the county associated with that military base, and the family can't change it.

"Edit Family" opens Family Profile Information and allows Changes.

Click on "Continue" to save your changes and return to the Family Member List.

Your edits need to be repeated for each family member who shares the same email, address, and family phone number. All 3 are copied to new family members when you Add them, but edits are not automatically copied.
Check the box "Update member records with the same address" to have mailing address and primary phone number copied to each family member (family email is not automatically copied over each member email address).

If you wish to change counties, contact the 4-H office in the county showing on your family profile, they will need to edit your family profile and pick the county you prefer.
