A team of four 4-H members in Jackson County participated in the State Poultry judging contest this past April, and they won the event!  They are on their way to the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Contest in November, which is held in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. These young people will judge live past-production white leghorn laying hens, as well as exterior egg quality, broken out eggs, candled eggs and poultry carcasses, including turkeys. And on top of that, they will also do poultry parts identification.

This team and their families have been hit hard by Hurricane Michael, and although they have raised half of the funding they are are still in need of $2,000 to travel to the event. Please help support this team with their travel expenses to Nationals.  If we receive dollars over the listed amount, those funds will be used for other Florida teams in that region. If you have any questions, please contact Mendy Allen with the UF/IFAS Advancement team at mendywillis@ufl.edu or (352) 222-8585.
