Introductory Letter

THANK YOU for your interest in the Florida 4-H Camping Program.  The 2012 Summer Camp Application deadline has passed.

Qualifications for Summer Program Staff and Interns: Preferably applicants will have 4-H experience as a camp counselor and a 4-H Agent’s referral, but this is not required.  Applicants with other youth related experience will also be considered.  We’re looking for ENERGETIC, CREATIVE & MATURE persons to help lead and teach youth at our residential camping facilities.  EOE/AA.

Age requirements for Summer Program Staff:
 It is required that applicants have been out of high school for at least one year before applying for this position.

Age requirements for Summer Program Interns:  It is required that applicants have  completed high school before applying for this position.

Selection process for New Applicants:

Applicants will be reviewed by the State Program Coordinator and the Camp's Business / Administrative Manager, and applicants who are selected for an in-person interview will be notified..

Mandatory Summer Program Staff Trainings

Staff Training Dates:

1st Weekend Training – March 2 – 4, 2012
2nd Weekend Staff Training – April 27 – 29, 2012
Lifeguard/1st Aid Training – May 12 – 18, 2012
Week Long Staff Training - May 20 – 25, 2012

 

Before applying for summer staff, please look these dates over and make sure if selected you will be able to attend these trainings. 

New staff are paid at the rate of $220.00 per week plus their room and board.  Staff live on camp and have no cabin responsibilities with the youth.  Staff are fed Sunday dinner through Friday lunch and have most weekends off.  If a camp has a rental group in for the weekend some staff may be asked to work, but they are paid extra for the weekend work.
