Summary Of 2007 Marine Ecology Event
Who Was Involved?
The Florida 4-H Program would like to thank the following for their support and assistance in this years State Marine Ecology Event:
- Osceola County Extension for the use of their facilities.
- Osceola County 4-H leaders and youth who volunteered at the MEE.
- The Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show and Fair for the use of the KVLS facility.
- Florida Sea Grant
We especially would like to thank all those that volunteered at the MEE to be table monitors, scoring room helpers, group leaders, readers, etc. Your assistance helped to make this year’s event a great success! Thank-you!!!
Who Competed?
A total of 110 youth from 10 counties competed. There were 8 Junior teams, 12 Intermediate teams and 6 Senior teams. There were 16 youth competing as individuals. In addition, close to 80 family members were there to support the youth.
First, second, and third place teams and individuals received trophies. First place teams receive a $100 scholarship to attend State Marine Camp or other approved program in marine education. First place individuals will receive a $50 scholarship for State Marine Camp or other approved program. All youth will receive Certificates of Achievement for their hard work in preparing for the event.

Summary of 2007 Marine and Aquatic Photo Contest
This year's contest had 125 photos entered – the highest number so far! A total of 16 counties sent in photos. There were five categories that youth could enter photos in. Ribbons were given for first, second, and third place winners in each category along with some Honorable Mentions. All youth will receive Certificates of Participation for the 2007 contest.
