Sandy Shaw Bekemeyer
With five generations currently involved, and a diverse portfolio of project area and leadership capabilities, Sandy Shaw Bekemeyer’s life has centered around 4-H for more than 40 years. She’s been involved with fund-raisers, pony rides, fairs, building a 4-H vehicle, provided leadership for the Orange County shooting sports program, and much more.
Reaching the underprivileged, those at risk and the disabled have given Sandy the self esteem to extend herself in her community as a leader, mentor, instructor and promoter of 4-H.
Raising her family through 4-H has resulted in neighbors, friends and perhaps 1,000 4-H members learning and becoming helpful members of society. She exemplifies the meaning of true commitment, loyalty, the value of team work, goal setting, and how to get grease off the hands with a little “elbow grease.”
