E.T.York

Dr. E.T. York, who has been a part of 4-H practically his entire life, has been elected to the Florida 4-H Hall of Fame.  York was one of five individuals inducted in 2007 at ceremonies held on July 26th at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

From his childhood as a rural Alabama farm boy and 4-H club member, Dr. York quickly demonstrated his leadership abilities and an enduring compassion to better the lives of others.

During his tenure as UF Provost for agriculture and later Vice President for Agriculture affairs, York helped organize the Florida 4-H Foundation and later the SHARE council, both very instrumental to the growth of the 4-H program in Florida.

Dr. York is the recipient of many awards including the National 4-H alumni award and the National “Partner in 4-H” award. In addition, the Florida Museum of History named him one of 12 “Great Floridians” in 1997.

While officially retired, Dr. York has remained active in State educational policy issues, agricultural and education programs and campus student life.

The four other 2007 inductees are: Mrs. Marilyn Halusky of Duval County; Mr. Robert Renner of Marion County; Gene and Cordella LaRoe of Lake County.
