Dianne Spann

Ms. Spann began volunteering with the Okeechobee County 4-H Program 25 years ago. She got her start in 4-H as a club leader when her children began showing dairy cattle.  As her kid’s involvement in 4-H grew over the years, so did Dianne’s own commitment to the program. She could always be found at every meeting and practice, always helping out where she could.

Dianne has served as a District and County Events Coordinator, Tropicana Speech contest judge, and has even chaperoned several National 4-H events such as Citizenship Washington Focus and National 4-H Conference. Dianne’s own children have long since graduated, but she continues to serve as the Jr. Leaders Okeechobee County Council Club Leader, is the Dairy Quiz Bowl Coach, and has established the first ever History Camp in Okeechobee County.  Just a couple of weeks ago Debbie Clements, Okeechobee County 4-H Agent, noted that Dianne has been on the road a lot; returning home from the National Holstein and Guernsey Quiz Bowl contests on a Saturday, the start of two weeks of History Camp on Monday, and then after only a weekend off, the start of Cooking Camp. It’s no wonder why she has been recognized for her volunteerism and leadership within the Okeechobee County 4-H program on numerous occasions.

Dianne and her husband Danny have logged in thousands of hours with local and statewide 4-Hers in their efforts to “Make the Best Better.” Dianne is a founding member of the Okeechobee County Fair Association, a member of the Okeechobee County 4-H Foundation, the Florida Youth Dairy Advisory Committee, as well as many others. Dianne’s involvement on top of her career showcases her belief in the power of youth.
