Primary responsibilities and experiences of this internship:
- 1. Exploring creative ways to engage and expand the Florida 4-H social media network
- 2. Writing and compiling information for newsletters
- 3. Website development
- 4. Assisting in the maintenance of mailing databases
- 5. Assisting in the development of promotional materials in both print and multimedia platforms
4-H State Headquarters communications staff handle all statewide communications efforts including program marketing, public relations, and all other internal and external communications. Applicants can expect the internship to provide a well-balanced experience with newer social media tools as well as traditional communication strategies. 4-H State Headquarters is located in the Straughn IFAS Extension Professional Development Center on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville.
Interns must have completed at least two years of college and pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, design or a related field, or have equivalent work experience. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Publisher and Google applications is required. The desire to learn and to work hard is essential, as well as the willingness to adapt to a growing and changing work environment. Ability to focus and handle details accurately in a timely manner is necessary.
Please be aware that this is an unpaid opportunity. College credit available. 5 – 10 hours per week. Flexible scheduling.
