Tropicana Public Speaking

 

tropicana logoFlorida 4-H is very proud of the 4-H/Tropicana Public Speaking Contest. Working with youth in grades 4-6, this contest helps thousands of young people annually learn how to write and deliver a speech. More than 150,000 young people in over 50 Florida counties in grades 4-6 participated in the contest last year. 

Tropicana is pleased to provide camp scholarships once again for the 2008-2009 school year.  To request a scholarship, please submit your request, in writing, on the attached Scholarship Request Form to Tracy Szelwach (The two winners’ names must be provided.) at Tracy.Szelwach@Tropicana.com.

Please remember to send the 4-H State Office, as well as Tropicana, copies of news articles, photos or letters with the success stories in your individual counties.  We love to hear your feedback on the success of the program.

The 4-H/Tropicana Public Speaking Contest can help fulfill the Sunshine State standards. If you are a teacher who would like more information about the 4-H/Tropicana Public Speaking Contest, please contact the 4-H agent at your county cooperative extension office. 

Tropicana has sponsored the contest since 1969 and provides classroom materials for teachers, certificates of participation, medallions for school winners, trophies for county winners, summer camp scholarships and Tropicana orange juice refreshments for county contests. Close to 2 million students have participated in this program since its beginning.
