Jump into the Gator Pit and earn up to a $1,250 investment!
The Florida 4-H Youth Development Program is on a statewide search for the most innovative young entrepreneurs, inventors, creators and business people! These participants will demonstrate goal-setting, financial literacy, creativity, communication skills, and effective marketing.
Are you a senior level 4-H’er (4-H Age 14-18)?
Do you have a practical idea to make your 4-H project better?
Do you have a product, service or idea from your 4-H project that others might be interested in?
Think you have what it takes to pitch your business plan to some of Florida’s savviest Gators and win up to a $1,250 investment into your entrepreneurial idea?
If you answered yes to these questions or have an idea that’s just waiting to be shared, then make sure to take a look at the application packet! Whether you’re in the development stages or operating successfully and planning to expand, Gator Pit is the challenge for you! If your idea is the best, you could be Florida 4-H’s next Gator Pit Champion!
Please download, fill in, and submit one of the following Gator Pit applications and one page pitch by June 1st, 2017. The fillable application is preferred and is compatible with all Adobe PDF editors. If you are unable to fill in the document, a written application is available as well.
Youth do not have to enroll in an entrepreneurship project in order to participate in the Gator Pit Showcase. Gator Pit is an opportunity for youth to take their project work to the next level and “apply” what they have learned to create a product or business pitch. In some instances, youth may already have the business up and running and looking to expand. Both are acceptable applicants. Individuals or teams of up to five may apply.
Applications can be submitted via the following methods:
- Electronically: firstname.lastname@example.org
- Mail: 2142 Shealy Drive, PO Box 110225, Gainesville, FL 32611
The top five applicants will be asked to present their pitch, along with a business plan and a design of their prototype (if applicable) to a group of business savvy Gators during the Competitive Events time on Monday afternoon of 4-H U. Applicants who are involved in Competitive Events do not need to worry about choosing one or the other, we can accommodate you as necessary! On Tuesday, contestants will take their pitches to the center stage to compete for the chance to win Fan Favorite. Winners will be announced during Wednesday’s Award Banquet.
All five individuals or groups will be given an exclusive coaching session prior to the On-Stage component on Tuesday, and will have the opportunity to attend the Entrepreneurship Track at 4-H U.
