County Foundation Board Member

Purpose

To protect the financial integrity of the County 4-H Foundation. To formulate financial development and management policy. To establish guidelines for making Foundation related decisions.

Length of Appointment

Sept. 1 - Aug. 31; renewable upon agreement of volunteer and 4-H Agent

Committee Responsibilities

  • Advise and approve long-range plans for the Foundation.
  • Approve and monitor progress on annual management, financial and program plans.
  • Use your influence and provide assistance in generating contributions necessary to meet financial goals. Assist in identifying prospective contributors.
  • Identify and approve all policies and procedures for generating private funds.
  • Approve an annual budget. Advise and approve investment policies.
  • Keep apprised of all Foundation property.
  • Contribute financially to the County 4-H Program.
  • Promote 4-H and its impact with the broader public.
  • Attend committee meetings and fund raising events. Assist with special events.
  • Donor solicitation through personal visits, presentations, letters, telephone calls etc.

Qualifications

  • Teens and adults willing to take on responsibility for securing resources for the County 4-H Program. Willing to work as a team member.
  • Belief in the importance of youth development and the need to provide young people with out of school learning opportunities. A belief in the 4-H Program.
  • Knowledge of the Cooperative Extension Service and the 4-H Program, or a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to meet people easily.
  • Good communication skills.

Time Required

Quarterly committee meetings, more often if needed. 1 - 3 hours weekly in addition to carrying out committee activities.

Success Criteria

Committee meets agreed upon annual goals. Financial support increases on an annual basis.
