County Resource Leader
Purpose
To serve as speakers, teachers or consultants to 4-H leaders and members on a particular subject(s). The Resource Leader is utilized on a “when needed” basis for the county.
Length of Appointment
Varies with the activity and as agreed upon by the County 4-H Agent
Responsibilities
- Improve the quality of programs in your subject area.
- Conduct activities which may include presenting a special program, conducting a special interest project, or leader training.
- Help promote 4-H in the community.
- Update skills and knowledge by attending leader training meetings in your subject area.
- Maintain sensitivity to the individual differences of 4-H members such as differences in interests, abilities, personal needs, cultural heritage, and family support.
- Submit required reports in a timely manner. Follow 4-H policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate with youth and/or adults.
- Belief in the educational value of the activity you are leading or teaching.
- Belief in the importance of youth development and the need to provide young people with out of school learning opportunities. A belief in the 4-H Program.
- Knowledge, skills and ability in your subject area.
Resources & Support Available
- Orientation, training and support from County 4-H Staff.
- Cooperative Extension Service and University of Florida educational materials.
- Assistance from other volunteers.
- Opportunity to attend the Florida 4-H Adult Leader Forum
Time Required
As agreed upon by the volunteer and the County Extension 4-H Agent
