County Resource Leader - Demonstration / Public Speaking Judge
Purpose
To serve as an evaluator for 4-H members participating in the demonstration and/or public speaking contests.
Length of Appointment
Sept. 1 - Aug. 31; renewable upon agreement of volunteer and 4-H Agent
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the presentations using the judging forms provided.
- Provide the presenter with written and constructive comments and suggestions for improvement.
- Give a placing of blue, red or white to each presenter and make a final selection for the best presentations in the project category and age division. Judging categories include: Animal Science Horse, Livestock, Environmental Education; Citizenship/Leadership/Communications; Individual & Family Resources; Public Speaking and Science and Technology.
- Help promote 4-H in the community.
- Update skills and knowledge by attending leader training meetings in your subject area.
- Maintain sensitivity to the individual differences of 4-H members such as differences in interests, abilities, personal needs, cultural heritage, and family support.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate with youth and/or adults.
- Belief in the educational value of the 4-H Demonstration & Public Speaking Program.
- Belief in the importance of youth development and the need to provide young people with out of school learning opportunities. A belief in the 4-H Program.
- Knowledge, skills and ability in your subject area.
