Embryology Project Leader
Purpose
To guide and support 4-H members in the embryology project. Work with members individually or as a group. Coordinate participation in the school embryology program.
Length of Appointment
Sept. 1 - Aug. 31; renewable upon agreement of volunteer and 4-H Agent
Responsibilities
- Share your knowledge of the project with members through meetings, tours, individual help, and written resources.
- Conduct project meetings and workshops using the “Learn By Doing” hands on approach. A minimum of 6 hours for each separate group you work with.
- Coordinate and/or teach the embryology project for one or more assigned schools.
- Serve as liaison between your assigned school(s) and the County 4-H Office.
- Assist members with exhibits, demonstrations and the completion of their project record book.
- Attend county project leader training programs, a minimum of one per year.
- Attend the Embryology Volunteer Workshop.
- Be sensitive to risks and use risk management strategies related to project work.
- Become familiar with the member and leader embryology project books.
- Maintain sensitivity to the individual differences of 4-H members such as differences in interests, abilities, personal needs, cultural heritage and family support.
- Submit required records in a timely manner. Follow 4-H policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable about project or willing to learn.
- Ability to plan and conduct a project activity using resources of the Cooperative Extension Service and the University of Florida.
- Ability to communicate with youth. Understanding of the developmental characteristics of youth.
- Belief in the importance of youth development and the need to provide young people with out of school and school enrichment learning opportunities. A belief in the value of the 4-H Program.

Time Required
2 - 3 hours per week during the school year
Success Criteria
Will provide at least 6 hours of educational programming for each group worked with.
