Fair Events Coordinator
Purpose
Plan, conduct and evaluate an event during the County Fair.
Length of Appointment
Sept. 1 - Aug. 31; renewable upon agreement of volunteer and 4-H Agent
Responsibilities
- Take leadership to plan, conduct and evaluate the fair event.
- Promote this event in the county.
- Recruit event participants.
- Utilize teen volunteers to assist with the event.
- Evaluate the event and make recommendations for the following year.
- Organize and/or teach educational activities in the project relating to the event.
- Attend leader training meetings and workshops, a minimum of one per year.
- Be sensitive to risks and use risk management strategies in conducting this event.
- Maintain sensitivity to the individual differences of 4-H members such as differences in interests, abilities, personal needs, cultural heritage, and family support.
- Submit required reports in a timely manner. Follow 4-H policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate with youth.
- Ability to supervise a group of young people.
- Belief in the educational value of the event.
- Ability to plan, conduct, teach and evaluate the event using resources of the Cooperative Extension Service and the University of Florida.
- Belief in the importance of youth development and the need to provide young people with out of school learning opportunities. A belief in the 4-H Program.
Resources & Support Available
- Orientation, training and support from County 4-H Staff. Assistance from other volunteers.
- Supplies and equipment.
- Opportunity to attend the State 4-H Leader Forum.
Time Required
10 - 15 hours preparation time; 1 day for the event
Success Criteria
4-H members will participate in the event. The event will be successfully conducted.
