Volunteer Recruitment Team Member
Purpose
To promote 4-H volunteer opportunities and encourage individuals to participate.
Length of Appointment
Sept. 1 - Aug. 31; renewable upon agreement of volunteer and 4-H Agent
Responsibilities
- Serve as team member of the County 4-H Volunteer Recruitment Team.
- Broaden awareness of 4-H volunteer opportunities within the county through any of the following: radio/TV PSAs, news releases, school or service club presentations, posters, personal contacts, volunteer Web sites, etc.
- Assist people interested by providing them with information on 4-H.
- Assist 4-H Agent with the screening process where appropriate and assigned.
- Document the number of people contacted and the number of people recruited as volunteers as a result. Maintain record of volunteer hours served and duties performed.
- Required to attend Recruitment Team training and at least one training per year inorder to keep aware of trends in the 4-H program.
Qualifications
- Belief in the importance of youth development and the need to provide young people with quality and caring leaders. A belief in the value of the 4-H Program.
- Knowledge of 4-H program and 4-H volunteer opportunities.
- 4-H volunteer experience.
- Ability to meet people easily.
- Public speaking ability.
- Willing to work as a team member.

Time Required
2 - 3 hours weekly
Success Criteria
The goals of Recruitment Team members as agreed upon by the Team are met. Prospective volunteers are informed of volunteer opportunities. Presentations are given and media contacts made as requested.
